LAYTON, Utah – Nothing suspicious was found by emergency crews after searching a Deseret Industries store that was evacuated due to a possible dynamite donation, according to Layton City officials.
The store was evacuated Saturday afternoon “out of an abundance of caution” due to dynamite that may have been “inadvertently” donated at the location, according to Lieutenant Travis Lyman with the Layton City Police Department.
Lyman said police received a call around 1 p.m. Saturday from a man saying his brother may have donated the hazardous materials at the store located at 930 West Hillfield Road.
He was then disconnected from the call and police were not able to get ahold of him.
Officials said the building was evacuated and fire and police units responded to the store; bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and searched the building, but nothing was found.
Emergency crews are finished at the Deseret Industries in Layton. Nothing suspicious was found.

No injuries were reported and officials asked the public to avoid the area during the search.
Only the Deseret Industries store was affected by the incident, according to Lyman. The store was closed for the rest of the day.
